MAINTENANCE TONERS--- WHEN AND WHY
I know you are wondering what a maintenance toner is. A maintenance toner can make your highlights and balayage last longer, tone that blond back to icy, and give you that shine and luster that has faded a bit.
When we highlight and balayage, the majority of the time we need to tone that lightened hair. That lightened raw tone is not the most desirable color. It really depends on a persons’ melanin’s in their hair based on the color of the natural hair and how fine or course the hair is. Most of the time we need to tone some unwanted yellow out or add some beige for some depth in the blond. We have beautiful colors that we do this with. Most of our toners have a gloss in them as well, that adds incredible shine and seals the moisture in the hair for up to 25 shampoos.
We also like to tone the root on the grown out color so it looks more freshened up and not like a root grow out. We can just do the clear gloss for the shine only as well.
Every time you wash your hair at home the toner or color fades out of your hair. It also fades when you flat iron your hair. So after about 6 weeks, the toner is almost gone depending on how you take care of your hair and how many times per week you shampoo. This is the time frame we suggest a maintenance toner. From 6 to 8 weeks.
If you want your hair to always look great in between your highlight appointments, call to schedule for your maintenance toner. Come in and relax with a mimosa and a warm chocolate chip cookie and have a little self- care day. We always love seeing you!
