I DON’T WANT HIGHLIGHTS, I WANT BALAYAGE!

     It seems like at least once a week we have someone coming into the salon telling us they want a balayage. There are so many pictures out there on Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram, etc. that say balayage as the caption for the picture. Don’t get me wrong, we do love doing balayage for our clients. But the truth is there is more than one way to get the look you want for the type of hair and starting base color of your hair.

     If you want that beautiful blended blond look, you may have to go with a highlight with a root smudge and toner instead of balayage If your natural hair is really dark or previously colored. Balayage is hand painting which is open to the air and will only get a few levels lighter and is almost always a little warmer because of the softening of the hair around the hand painting.

    If your hair is lighter than a level 6 and it is fine, you can get pretty light with the balayage. Therefore, the consultation is so important when you are going to see your stylist about getting balayage or highlights for the first time.

     There are too many variables involved when making this decision.

       Our expert advice is to go in with an open mind. Listen to your stylist. She can get the look you want, but you need to trust the process she wants to take to get there.
